Our Mission

The 1 in 8k Moore for the Cure exists to eradicate Breast Cancer.  We seek to do this through a community centered event that will:  raise funds to fight Breast Cancer, increase public awareness, and allow individuals to honor and support those who battle Breast Cancer.

 Our Cause

The 1 in 8k Rally for the Cure supports Breast Cancer Awareness, Screening, and Research by benefitting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure – NC Triangle to the Coast Affiliate.  All of our proceeds go directly to the Triangle to the Coast Affiliate, which Moore County belongs.  Of the monies sent to the local Affiliate, 25% of their net proceeds will be sent on to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® (National) solely for the purpose of funding Breast Cancer research.

Every year, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure – NC Triangle to the Coast Affiliate awards over $1 Million in grants to local agencies for Breast Cancer education and screening.  In addition, research to find a cure for Breast Cancer is conducted through the national Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Our Impact

Last year, 2011, the inaugural 1 in 8k Moore for the Cure was able to send on over $29,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®!  In addition, we had over 500 participants in our first ever event. 

Since the 2011 event, FirstHealth of the Carolinas (in partnership with the Moore Free Care Clinic and Pinehurst Radiology) was awarded a grant for $68,000 from the local Susan G. Komen Affiliate to provide free Screening Mammograms and follow-up care to Moore County women who cannot afford it!
